Graphic recording at the Be-Cause Health online conference

Back in 2021 when most events were happening online, Be-Cause Health also decided to go online with their annual conference. The event was looking at the different effects of global warming on human and planetary health. It was a very meaningful event with lots of excellent speakers that I was honored to be a part of.

Graphic recording at an online event - what are the benefits

Graphic recording has a lot of benefits when it comes to online events: it helps people focus their attention, especially when the talks have been going on for a while. By checking in with the development of the live illustration, participants can take an “art-break” from time to time. It helps structure attendees’ ideas and see what has already been said and it also helps beat zoom-fatigue.

Handling sensitive and complicated policy subjects

Certain policy subjects, such as health policy and the consequences of climate change carry a lot of weight so it’s especially important to represent them correctly and not shy away from the hard stuff. In my view, almost all subjects can benefit from live illustration because it deepens the understanding of the viewers/listeners by focusing only on the key messages.

How the graphic recording lives on

Once the conference is over, there are a lot of ways to use the graphic recordings: they can remain on the event website, be posted on social media, be part of the conference report and many others. As of this year (2023) I’m also offering timelapse videos of the digital drawings so those can be used for communication purposes as well.

If you have an upcoming event where you would like to use graphic recording, feel free to reach out.
