How to delight and engage your event audience with temporary tattoos

Temporary tattoos for events, is that event a thing? Yes, you heard that right, temporary tattoos are back in. Those shiny pictures from childhood bubble gum wraps are getting into the event scene!

A while ago one of may favourite clients Renewables Grid Initiative came to me with the idea of doing tempoary tattoos at their event. I was skeptical at first because I wasn’t sure how renewable energy could be translated into fun tattoos, but after our brainstorming session, all my worries were gone. Here is how we did it.

Step 1 - Preparation

Together with the RGI team we came up with a set of ideas, some simple, some more complex, for what the tattoos could be. Based on their feedback, I selected the best ones and created the tattoo sheets at home. I then cut them up and showed up at their event for the actual “tattoing”.

Step 2 - Tattooing at the event

With all the little temporary tattoos, I set up my “tattoo station” at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels. I did one set of tattooing during the coffee break, and another during the reception. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect but the tattooing experience was a huge success! People were super into it, many of them wanted several tattoos and they were so delighted to have it and full of joy, it just gave a wonderful energy to an already great event.

I’m still unsure why it was such a big hit. Maybe it’s because it let people celebrate their work achievements in a fun and silly way and people need that sometimes. People need fun and joy at events, and temporary tatoos are a great way to bring it to them! so happy 15th RGI!

If you too would like to have temporary tattoos at your next event, feel free to reach out.
